Inua Mama Initiative Project (IMIP)

  • INUA MAMA Initiative Project addresses some of the objectives of the psychosocial and women pillars in the MCAP-PCVE. The two pillars address the role of women in countering violent extremism with an aim of not only looking at women as victims of violent extremism but also as perpetrators of such crimes. The action plan also aims at ensuring psychologically support to the women’s victims and returnees.
    The Inua mama Initiative project proposal was developed through identifying a number of gaps in relation to the role of women in CVE and thereafter promoting to the general outcomes of the project. The gaps identified were inadequate coordination of stakeholders on matters on CVE, lack of established psychological/psychosocial support structures of victims and returnees of CVE and inadequate gender responsive policies. These gaps however will lead to the overall Inua mama project outcomes which are;
    • Strengthened capacity of stakeholders to coordinate, prevent and respond to CVE
    • Enhanced capacity and confidence of the affected families and Community members to coordinate with duty bearers on prevention and response to violent extremism
    • Increased gender-responsiveness in CVE policies, frameworks, laws and Institutions for prevention & response to extremism
